Athiests and political affiliation?!

Question: This question stems purely from curiousity. I am an athiest and moderate in my political belifs and I am wondering if there is any sort of pattern.

It seems to me that most catholics are conservative, or conservatives are catholic (but I could be wrong) so if the opposite is true, are most athiests liberal in their belief?

I'm an atheist. I consider myself to be an independent because I think political parties are corrupt and ridiculous. However, I do tend to fall to the more liberal side of the spectrum.

DON'T ASK, DON'T TELL.

go to religion

As Catholic we are over a barrel because we cannot support
anyone who is pro-choice

I'm an atheist and I'm certainly not conservative nor am I a liberal. I look at each arguement and make a decision. I guess that's why I'm an atheist.

I'm a southern baptist and a liberal. So I don't think so, just the fundmentalist christians that are so vocal are usually conservative.

Somewhere between moderate and liberal. Actually, I took an online test a few weeks back, and it labelled me as a "libertarian liberal," which is, I think, the diametric opposite of the current administration.

I do not believe in religion at all, but I would not consider myself to a liberal, either. There is not necessarily a correlation there.

I am a moderate... I have some conservative views, and some liberal views. This could be from my Methodist raising, but I lean toward conservative. I am an atheist, so your pattern of conservatives are Catholic is wrong, but Catholic to conservative is generally right on the nose.

Not that I have seen. I have known conservative, Liberal and those who don't fit in either group who just did not believe in a god. For myself I am a christian but politically I am an independent.

You paint with a very broad brush trying to tie political beliefs with religious beliefs. It may be true for some but the same could be said for region of the country, race, ethnic origins, class, etc,

Most atheists fall into the 'liberal' side of the political spectrum, but not all. Many scientists are basically atheist but they tend to lean conservative.
