Oh you are very fortunate indeed! I spent a year in 1988 all over the U.K. and met some wonderful people- especially the farther north I went. Lots of complete strangers invited me in from the pub for a cuppa! LOL I got completely lost in London, until I figured out the Tube. But, it's sort of fun to get lost in a foreign country! You never know what'll happen. I will never forget that year. I spent my 26th birthday there. My happiest moment was on my birthday (May 29) and it was raining, and I was walking across the street from Marble Arch, and I looked around the sky and the London cabbies and other cars waiting for the light, and I felt the purest sense of happiness. I don't understand people who don't have any sort of interest in seeing the world.
I almost got mugged in peru...
I went to the top of Mont Blanc in a scary gondola car where France, Italy, and Switzerland converge and it was summer on the ground but a freezing cold, snowy windy place at the top and I was only wearing shorts and a t-shirt. But I didn't really care because there were people from many different places and they were all so happy and friendly. This huge group of Italian students taught us songs and I had a great time.
My best experiences were just learning about the local culture and seeing the sights.
