Yes. To me a gift card says: you're important enough for me to buy you something, but not important enough for me to actually go out and spend time trying to decide what to get you. Of course if someone gives me a gift card and a gift, it says to me you're very important to me, but you're too complicated for me to actually decide what to get you.

i think real gifts are better

it is the easy way out

No I don't. It is a good way to make sure the person who is tough to buy for can go and pick out what they want. It is better than giving them nothing, if you ask me...

its just the easy way out.. there nice to have thought

It's the thought that counts...

i'd rather get a gift card. then i can buy what i want. i hate for someone to spend a bunch of money on something i didn't even want. i know it's the thought that counts and all that, but come on...

yes!

Good Gift.

They can buy what they want and they dont
have to return what they didnt want.

Im an running out of fake smiles and thank yous for bad gifts.

If they don't want them, I'll take 'em.

Hell no. So long as they are stores I shop at I would LOVE gift cards above all else unless you're absolutly 100% certain I'll like an actual gift.

Every year I request just straight up cash for a gift. People rarely cooperate.

I think its a great idea if you get it for a specific store, it shows you've paid attention to what kinds of stores that person likes. Also, 90% of the time, people don't like the actual gifts their given anyways. Gift cards and money is the way to go!

I think u should give real presnt out

maybe i do it sometimes

i prefer just a card instead, people are horrible at buying gifts

I personally like a gift card because you can buy what you like
in the sales after Christmas and often get double the value of the card if you shop well

Both- but sometimes there aren't any other options...

They are less personal but easy. I don't like getting them because I forget about them. I still have some from last Christmas.

Easy way out. The best gifts are those that have taken thought

Yes. Watch Jim Gaffin; Beyond The Pale. He talks about that and it makes it seem SO funny!

k don't give a gift card to your parents, grandparents, or boyfriend/husband. but they make great gifts for friends. the ones absolutely closest to you kind of expect that you know them well enough to get them a great gift, but your buds will probably appreciate being able to pick it out themselves.

Way better. Then ya don't buy them something they already have or dislike. The less likely your feelings will be hurt.

Its an easy way out...but gives the most bang for your buck...

it allows them to REALLY get what they want..and not FAKE a smile when they unwrap a gift they hate.

Pretend you are Jewish, you don't have to give anything.

its an easy way out, but I would much rather get a gift card than some dishtowels or socks

I think with someone you know it is more personal and exciting to get a "real" gift, but with an acquaintance (co-worker, etc.) gift cards are safer.

gift cards are good if u dont know the person that well. if u do know them i think they are abit taddy...

Actually I prefer giftcards and so do most of the people in my family. It is easier for me to go pick something out (especially when the gift card is from my grandparents that have 10 grandkids and 3 great grandkids) because I can be hard to shop for sometimes! I love gift cards...we actually ALL give gift cards on my moms side of the family.

i dont think so... i love getting gift cards, because then you get to choose what you want to get and you dont end up getting something that the you/ the person doesn't like.

Easy way out. Not personal at all. Everyone likes opening a gift, they may not always like what's in it but at least the person took the time to think about them and wrap it up!!! Just attach a gift receipt to the gift, that way they can exchange it if they don't like it.

I agree. It's the easy way out. A physical gift is much more personal.
