Thats not true.. my dad was a fireman for many years.. and never dranked heavily.. they are Athlethic though.. he gets on my damn nerves everytime I speak with him.. " Whens the last time you been to the gym john? I ran 2 miles this morning john, I just built a wall down in the basement now im getting ready to do the electricity john, man I went to the gym and Im so fat and out of shape.. at my 4 mile on the tredmill I started getting winded and I only did a few little sit ups and push ups before getting on..
And my all time personal favorite from dad.. Although he is 55 when he was 48 he was in the sheriffs Acadamy and beat out all the young Men in there 20's in the physical agility test.. He bragged for months about that.. I finally told him that If you had to fight fires in sky scrappers, and mountains with a hundres of pounds strapped to you for years I would still be in shape too.. most of those cats if not all where never firemen..
He turns and says with a big smile.. I KNOOOOOOOOOOW!!
If I didnt know better.. I think he did that to prove something to his self cause he graduated and quit after doing the thing 3 years.but thats pops.. all 6-3 and 270 lbs of him.. now.. and the man is still in shape.. like a line backer.. man he is the only man that makes me feel inferior. I hate that.. I cant live up to his expectations..

My first husband was a fireman, and was not a heavy drinker nor abusive in any way. He was a great guy! He passed away a few years ago in a car accident, and is still greatly missed by the department.
ALL is never a right word for anyone!!!!!!That is stereotyping.
I'm a volunteer fireman and so is my dad. One of the NICEST guys I know, and he doesn't drink OR smoke. I'm sure some of them do drink heavy, but none of the fireman I know do, and either do I.
i never dated a fireman but I'm really good friends with one and he is one of the sweetest guys i know......yea he drinks but he wouldn't hurt a fly!!
Yes I have. He didn't drink any more than most normal people do.

I don't think that would be true, but there is bound to be one rotten apple in the crate who may fit that stereotype.

My experience is that they are either completely amazing or complete losers. 50/50. Of course all of the amazing ones are married, but you may very well be right about the heavy drinking-the losers anyway...I noticed too that they dip or use chew-whatever that crap is-lip tobacco.
I dated a fireman once. He was super straight laced. I was the one that was a little wild, too wild for him - we only went on one date.
I was married to one once, I dated another once and was involved with a third once... Not all at once though.. LOL
I would say there are some firemen that are heavy drinkers and abusive but not because they are firemen.. That just happens to be their occupation. Some Doctors, Some lawyers or any other profession would have some of the men being heavy drinkers and abusive. So no would be the answer to your question, even if you wanted to say most firemen would still get you a no answer..
First of all I take great offense at your generalization.
There are plenty of alcoholics and abusers in other professions too.

Yes, he's a bit gruff, and he likes a beer after work, but he is NOT a heavy drinker, and was NEVER ONCE mean to me or my mother.
I have never dated a fireman, but I don't believe that all would fit that stereotype. There is bound to be a least one individual who has issues in this area. I don't want to believe that this is the norm. There are individuals that would fit the bill but not necessarily firemen.
