Question: I got a violation this morning for a question I asked yesterday about needing help hanging Christmas lights on my house. The violation notice was for solicitation...whatever, solicitation for help maybe. What's wrong with that?

I dont know what your question was. May be you should check the community guidelines once again.
Frankly i dont see any problem just asking some help, but guidelines are guidelines.

I've no idea...honestly I'd appeal it, that's a bit ridiculous...maybe copy/paste the question you wrote? Then perhaps I could see if it was some nit-picky word or something that caused it.
i got a violation to a response where i said "i dont know but im really sorry to hear that" and the reasoning was blank. it was weird. appeal!

Yeah I got a violation too. I was asking what women thought of guys who shave their scotums; its not like I was asking for a woman to shave my scrotum cause that would be solicitation.

I got one last week for solicitation...because I asked who wanted a chocolate chip cookie........people are just reporting others left and right, for no reason.....
I had a resolved question deleted today (asked/resolved Sunday) for point-gaming....

I don't know who gives out these violations but I am sure they never ever read the questions but just automatically respond to someones complain without checking it out.

I think they are just violating people so that you can say that they are doing something.
I think this is for your own protection. Yahoo doesn't want you giving out personal information like personal addresses.
Also this "solicitation" may seem like a business solicitation which probably goes against this websites rules. Thats not what this site is all about.

As a general rule: if the question is unlikely to interest people who are looking through resolved questions, then it's probably against the community guidelines.
