Now I can laugh about it, but when I found out, it wtyasn't so funny.
We had the grand opening of our company. I was one of the five owners. Big party, lots a people.....and I got a real pretty flower arrangement the next day. We had a bunch of nosy people in the office, and they were curious who sent me such nice flowers. Well on purpose I did not tell them and took the card off the flowers. So I guess they made up their own story and spread some rumors, which I did not even know at the time.
A couple of years later I went to a new the dentist (who I met at the party) to get new crowns. We had an extensive talk about crowns the night of the party. So after we talked for a while, he told me that our office manager had told everyone that the flowers were from the him and that we had an affair. Guess how dumbfounded I was at the time!! I probably turned beet-red and did not know wheather I should laugh or be angry. Since the company had dissolved in the meantime, I could not even tell the liar what I thought of her!
By the way the flowers were from a builder and he sent them, because I had sold 3 of his houses in one month and he wished me good luck with the company!
yes in high school all the blanking time and it was always proven false.

When I was 18, People were spreading rumours around my area that I was pregnant! I wasnt. And I didnt hang around my area anyway so someone must've been really bored to make up rumours about me.
Im starting to think it was a sign though because a year later, I did get pregnant, lol.

I do not spread rumors. But yes, there have been rumors about me. I have been told that there is a Yahoo Answers rumor that Judas Rabbi and I are the same person!
When I was younger, there was a huge horrible rumor about me, that definitely changed things for me, but I guess it helped create the person I am today.

Yes, it's happened to me before. Only once did I get into trouble. I got my butt kicked because of it. I don't spread rumors. I state my facts.

It happens on Construction Job sites all over the world and I have been the subject of a few. Yes, by the time it got to the office, I was called into the office. Thank Goodness I can think on my feet or I would have been stripped from my Superintendent position.
Many years ago a rumour spread around the estate that I was having an affair with the tv repairman. I wasn't but my tv broke down so often the longest I ever went withouit him round was three weeks. Sometimes he would be round twice a week. We had a contract with his company so we always got him.
A few years later I married my neighbours brother. Their mother was comvinced I was easy and not good enough for her son!

Also, I once spread some gossip once about a coworker and I told it to the wrong person, she ended up getting fired and I felt real bad about it--I dont gossip anymore.
Someone said I was a "Reporter Troll". I got blocked by a bunch of people because of that rumor. I am NOT a "Reporter Troll".
I went through a very public divorce. The rumor mill was fueled by antique and collectible dealers and customers in the southeastern US. Yes some of the false rumors bought me big trouble and No I will never start a rumor. I will always speak what I know only with those concerned.
When I was in high school a bunch of people started a rumor that I was gay. I guess it probably hurt my dating life, but in the end I dont care.

Yes there was a rumor that I was Mrs. Judas Rabbi! He answered one of my questions with"follow my heart" and I got two emails asking if I was his wife........lol
Yahoo Answers seems to be full of trolls spreading rumors, I doubt there is anyway to avoid them and still participate. The religion section is especially bad with personal Inquisitions.
