When and Where, you grew up ?!

Question: ...did you have Woolworths Stores, and inside the candy isle was a cabinet type thing and it had a turn-table and peanuts and nuts were on it, and lights kept them warm? I can close my eyes and feel the warm package when the clerk handed you them. anyone else remember?

Oh yes..loved that store...we also had the mister peanut store...they had a huge Mr. Peanut..oh the smell was so wonderful and it was great to get those warm peanuts...even better when it was cold outside..oh really miss that alot Tina...seems the children today are really missing some really good times!

I really don't like peanuts but I do remember Woolworths!!

Yes I do remember. My mother never let us buy them because she was a little snobby. I think she didn't like the idea of a person's hand touching our food if she'd not seen them washing them. I always wanted to get some cashews from that spinning tray arrangement.

Yes. Those were good times.

In my village home full of natural beauty.

none of anyone business

I was told that I was born behind a bar....and I still haven't moved from my seat, lol !! (The story is true tho.)

sorry not me I was born in the 80's

Those were the days, remember them well. Going to Woolworth and Kresge dime store in downtown Grand Rapids, Mi.

We had a Woolworth store in the town that I grew up in Scotland (population 12,000). I can't remember the turntable with nuts on it but I can remember that the candy was kept under glass to stop us stealing it.

Isn't it funny how smells can take you back? All Woolworth's had the same smell, peanuts and popcorn, wooden floors that creaked beneath your feet, goldfish tanks with a few floating belly-up! Ah, those were the days! You should post this one in Senior citizens. Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane.

Yes, we had a woolworths and then it went out of business. Not sure if I remember the nuts or not. I was little.

Oh what a lovely memory. Those Spanish style peanuts are still my favorite. I can see the wide steps in the middle of the store that lead to the basement too...that's where the toys were.

yeah, i remember a woolworths in the mall.. but it was right on the edge of my time.. all i remember was the little resturant, and the pets they sold.. i think b/c that is the only place we would go to, in that store. :D

Conway NH..i remember ,i think it was in concord NH there was a JJ N ewberrys too.wow we've come along way since those days!!!

I used to eat at the lunch counter in the last one in my city to close. That was late 80s.

We didn't have any Woolworth's near where I lived. We had Ben Franklin instead.

I grew up in the 60's in Chicago. We had woolworths here. I don't remember candy in the turntables.I think it was popcorn and nuts. Our great big woolworths was in downtown Chicago. They had a long bar type lunch table. We would get "Green Rivers" sweet soda's. Once a year my mom took us there to have lunch. I miss a lot of shopping stores we had back then. The prices we really low at Woolworths weren't they? And the people were nice too!

west allis Wi in 1989

didn't happen here but we did have a Woolworth's and it had a soda fountain

Oh yeah, I could smell those warm peanuts as soon as I walked thru the door! MMMMM!!! And remember buying candy for a penny and you'd get like 5 pieces?

Oh yea I remember and they were sooo good! What a special treat that was for us we would get some and share brings back wonderful memories of when my Mother was alive and my family was close. Now we are all over the country and hardly ever see each other all with our own families busy doing our own things. I wish we were close again. I so miss the good old days!
