Poll: Do you think boys should play with dolls or stuffed animals?!

Question: I am not a parent yet, but I am against boys playing with dolls ... period. Dolls are associated with feminine things and I just don't think boys should be combing hair and burping the baby like a little girl. However, I think a boy should be allowed to play with a stuffed animal as a baby and a toddler. But after 1 or 2 years old I think the stuffed animal should be stored away.

We were at a restaurant and this little boy (who appeared to be 5 or 6 at the most) had lost his teddy bear. His father drove him back to the restaurant to find this bear (we overhead the conversation). The waitresses searched high and low. The little boy was in tears. They finally found it and it was a sigh of relief for him.

Is it me or is he too old to be playing with stuffed animals? Before any of you parents get upset with me, I don't mean any harm. I am just stating my opinion.

*gives finger to Ozark*

im 19 and i still have stuffed animals. Nothing wrong with it....as long as the person doesn't have conversations with them.

maybe that bear had a sentimental value to him...i'm 21 and i still have my teddy bear from when i was a baby. don't be so critical on a little boy having a stuffed toy...so what if he cried it was his and it meant a lot to him.

sur y not its cuteh~~~ >^-^<

There is nothing wrong with boys playing with stuffed animals. My 15 year old son still adores them and I'd like to see someone tell his macho self that it's inappropriate.

Children, male or female, get attachments to certain toys. And god forbid it's not something "appropriate". My younger son carried around a pink blanket he fell in love with for years.

Don't force your gender prejudices on your future children. Boys have every right to play with what they want as long as it's not harmful. Dolls won't make them gay or weak. Also, girls deserve to play with trucks and cars or whatever "non-feminine" toys they like. It won't make them a butch lesbian either.

I am a parent but a parent to girls.

I do have a few nephews and I see nothing wrong with them playing with stuffed animals or DOLLS.
It will not damage them or turn them homosexual--and if you are honest with yourself, that is probably what he think will happen, if I am wrong, then I am truly sorry.
I know a lot of fathers and a few mothers that think their son(s) shouldn't play with dolls, toy kitchens or have anything pink because it is "sissy(ish) and will make them gay.
I studied child development for many many hours for my degree and trust me when I say--it is normal! You have got to let them explore and play like a child--boy or girl, they do not think of it like adults do--would you refuse to let your girl play with trucks, cars and race tracks and the forbidden stuffed animal after the age 5?
My sister in law has a 4 year old boy, her boyfriend decided when the boy turned 3 that he no longer needed his "blankie" and took it from him--I was very up-set and my SIL was to,but she will not speak up--mens word is like god to her--so I did, I got the blanket back from the hiding spot and gave it back to my nephew and told the BF not to touch it again--later, he apologized for his actions.

Edit:some behavior needs to become extinct--seriously.
