Don't lean, at all... I stand.
Seem to be a moderate. Because conservatives call me a liberal, and liberals call me a conservative... (you can't win, with either extreme, by the way.. these polar opposites may incite enthusiam/fervor.. and can obviously sell movies, tv talk shows and news/media... but, they are quite like CARTOON CHARACTERS vs. the real world.)
My parents are Democrats.. and I'd say conservative Democrats... union, both (teacher, printer) from way back... and part of a immigrant society that respects tradition, religion, doing right by others, family, community, respect, authority within reason, discipline, response, lawfulness.
Essentially, a background that you wouldn't see, hear or read about ANYWHERE in today's media -- which has you brainwashed that young should be overt liberals (because colleges are portrayed that way, on TV)... that GWB/Cheney are evil twins, and thus everyone must oppose them, and be liberals.. that fairness = gay marriage, and Ellen & SpongeBob gets major ratings (therefore, the young must be Liberals)... and of course, over-look the farce of say, an Al Gore "forgetting" his 8 years in the White House, the world's seat of power in that silly "for-profit" film that sought to capture the same $$$lightning$$$ that M.Moore hit for $100+ mil with his, in 2003.. and DID. You'd think there would be more than 2-seconds devoted to Gore's VP years, or his nationally televised PRO-Nafta debates vs. Ross Perot (who warned of jobs lost to China, etc. "great sucking sound"), mega-SUVs getting 9 mpg available made avail. for ALL soccer moms w/o needing a Truck License.., Bubba/Gore eliminating the Fed. MPG standards in the 90's (!!!) that Michael Moore himself RIPS in "Stupid White Men"... and yet, he still yaps about energy/co2 & autos? when he just went solar on ONE of his mega-mansions in July of 2007? And don't EVEN get me started about inner-city teens making their mothers GRANDMOTHERS at 30-34 years old... and sticking GREAT and GREAT-GREAT grandmothers with their children, needing to raise 2-3 generations.. without space, income, discipline... and what do DEMS do about this???? (crickets...) nothing.. but you're supposed to vote AGAIN for some dopey-azz Clinton that says "we can and we WILL do better!" (yeah, when? how?) and, you'd THINK that CNN would include SOMETHING about rap music, blacks in poverty, youth gangs, street life being glorified over education (it wasn't THIS BAD in the 60's and 70's)... instead, nothing. NOTHING.
Liberal... shouldn't mean BLIND.

My mom would probably be labeled as a tree hugging hippie if she were alive right now. She was just very realistic on things. My dad has always been a staunch conservative.

the whole left vs. right thing really makes no sense to me. Why do I have to pick a side? Why are people so against finding common ground and a practical compromise that benefits EVERYONE?
