Crippled dog should we put him down?!

Question: We have a very old dog named Droopy. He has cried and cried because of his leg. Droopy has hurt his back leg somehow and it has permentley dameged it. We think Droopy might have a tumor. He is a beagle/basset hound. He's overweight too. He will not eat or take his meds. He will not come when you call him. He is in pain we know. The vet has given him a lot drugs but many of them do not work. Should we put him down?

Yes! God is looking forward to Droopy's arrival in Heaven, let's put him to sleep so he may join the Heavenly Father.

I woudn't. But that is only my opinion. Give him a chance, he has a life too. I know it will be expensive, but have you ever thought of one of those doggie wheel chairs?

Yes I think it would be best for the dog.

You're not doing him any favors by keeping him alive. Have him put down, be there when it happens and tell him you love him, and goodbye.

That's what I did for our cat. Good luck.

If your vet says do it, then do it. There's no reason to let that poor dog suffer like that.

thats really sad but i think that up to you

If he is in pain and nothing seems to help, yes, I would put him to sleep. I could not stand to see my dog suffer. He is crying because he is hurting.

sadly, it is the best for him... don't make him suffer anymore

I would.

If he's in pain and not eating he's miserable most likely and yes you should put him down.

It's such a hard decision to euthanise a much loved pet. However, if he's suffering and cannot be healed, it's the kindest way to go. Bless your heart! I know it hurts.

As hard as it is, and I have been there, I would ask the vet straight out what is the best thing for Droopy. Best of Luck.

Oh poor Droopy. If he is in pain and there is nothing you can do for him then yes.If he can be treated some how, you may want to see if there is another way to care for him.

It would be the best and hardest move you will ever make but yes. He will be in a better place and you would be putting him out of his misery.

poor thing. i know what a hard decision that is, i recently had to put one of my beloved cats to sleep. she was near death though and had no hope of any sort of life. i start crying just to think of it.. anyway, i would ask your vets advise. he or she will be honest with you and tell you what is the kindest thing to do. with my cat, i thought i could just let her die at home, i thought it would happen fast and peaceful. but it wasn't, her heart was good and she would have suffered for several more days. for me, having a pet put to sleep is the hardest thing i've ever had to do, and i've had to do it a few times. please consult your vet before you make any decision.
