The paper must come from UNDERNEATH the roll, or else I take it off and turn it over.

I don't care which way the paper is loaded as long as the paper is there. No empty rolls.
I think I saw this on TLC when they had this show called Great Country Inns or something like that- I forget but anyway, the proper way as the show said was to have the end of the roll in the back. I have been puttin git on the roll like that ever since.

I prefer over the front, but it's whatever is easier to get it off the roll for you.
