Do you enjoy teaching ?!

Question: What do you enjoy about it ?

I admire people who like to teach anything, because I hate it so much.
I trained as a highshool science teacher, but decided it was a bad idea for me and for the students!

I absolutely enjoyed teaching. What I enjoyed was getting the students to THINK!
(I almost caused a riot once when substituting for American History long term I had two sides research for and against slavery right before the Civil War period. But I added a twist. All the black students had to be pro-slavery, and all the white students against. The problem occurred when each side became so emotionally involved !
But they learned things they could not have learned otherwise.!

And when motivated properly, kids that age (high school) can be amazing! Although I have to admit it took me years to become what I considered a good teacher. My last 7 years teaching was remedial algebra at a local college. I considered it MY failure if a student who was trying didn't make it through the course.

As a math teacher I saw all kinds of problems with our school system. In my estimation there were three main problems. Of course the most important thing is for the parents to value their child's education. But the next biggest problemas I saw it (with very fallible eyes) is our system of local school boards. There should be some minimum requirements for some one to serve on one. The third biggest problem were administrators who merely want "problems to go away."

There are a lot of really gifted teachers out there -- I wished I had been one of them -- but so many of our best teachers are forced out by the "system" and non-competative salaries.

I better get off my soap box.

yeah i do. i think it is always good to pass along knowlege to others. who knows, it may save a persons life someday. good luck.

i'm going to be an elementary school teacher :)

Not really, that's why I'm the janitor.

I teach rubber stamping and scrapbooking and love it!!!

i don't teach. but when i am very good at instructing

No I hate it. I can deal with with stupid people.

sure

I love to teach. I teach a couples class at my church. I love sharing the information from the Bible especially when the poiont being made has not occurred to the people in the class. It whets their appetites for learning more and on their own.

Yes, I like teaching the younger people I work with about diagnostics and testing control circuits.

I've taught a class! It was only once though... But it was awesome!!!!!! I loved it. I think it's because my mom and my step-dad are teachers. ^.^

Sadly enough I'm not patient enough to teach. I taught my kids well the things that they need to know though. I pass on my common knowledge to them.

Ok, now you get to see the deep side of me,........I dont believe in teaching, it cannot be done, the one exception being "hellen Keller" the deaf dumb and blind american child we've all heard about in school. I dont believe a person can force another person to "adhere" to any form of belief unless that person who is the so called "pupil" had a desire, a use for what is being taught or is somehow maniplulated to think they need to know something. I do however believe firmly in learning,....any person who has a desire to learn anything can and or will do so even if they dont want to ackowlege it as "education".......for example, Americans who are poor have no need to learn math much less metric units but those of us who become drug users or dealers can easily convert grams to ounces, ounces to kilos, pounds to kilos and so forth....then there is the money end of it.....we all have to learn that because we are forced to out of sheer need......I used to teach what I called "my blue hair class"..a small group of ten ladies over 65 who claimed that they came to me to be taught watercolor,...what it was in reality was a "gossip group" for old ladies who talked about everything from sex to God, hair rinse, salad dressing, how to prepare turkeys and what they got for their 1st wedding anniversary and what it was like during the 2nd world war,.....I came away with more education than they did but I got their money, so who got taught what?..........who learned what?......who was richer?, poorer, more talented?....so forth and so on......I believe that about everyone including some animals, I for instance have had many types of parrots who spoke, had a nieghbor who's dog could actually say words and count with barks and paw taps and my own cat can say four words and eats by picking up food with one paw like a human does,..it amazes me!.....On the other hand, I see all the people on the earth who can and could trace themselves back to almost one of about 8 ancestoral stories and families who are all related to each other and yet they seek to kill each other cuz they speak differently and claim to worship the right God,.....they fight for God and yet they all believe that God created all mankind,..."why then?" I must propose!......."does God need any human to defend him?"......No, I dont think anyone can be taught but they can damn sure learn and the first thing they learn is "how to hate!". it sickens me to no end and yet I am among all humans so I'm not anyone to follow or anyone to lead........I might enjoy teaching if human beings were ignorant and in need but we are neither, we just claim to be certain ways forr certain reasons....in a free world (ideally) we should all have the same opportunities ( and we do sort of) but we are sepeerated by class and the sad thing is,..there is a good reason for seperation of class, I know that sounds horrible but it seems very real to me.............I was formally trained a a christian preacher, I have been visited physically by 2 angels when I was 15 years old and yet I cannot find one reason to push what I think down someone's throat unless they ask me,.....nobody asks me anything, cuz they already know it all.........There is a saying I like to use about pearls and swine that goes something like this, "never cast your pearls before swine"......it is supposed to mean in reality, not to offer your opinion to an enemy who would attack you with your own words,....what it means in reality is this,......"if you're close enough to throw your opinions at your enemy?"...(that he might hear them or see you?) ......"then he is close enough to kill you"...he doesnt give a rats' *** about what you might think or say or value for that matter. on the other hand, a sheep knows who the herder is and follows out of need, willingly so even thouhg he might be slaughtered and yet there are still many sheep in a herd.

I have taught violin and piano before, and loved it. I also volunteered to teach a basic photography class at the senior center, and that was an incredible bunch of fun!

I love to teach, that's all. The seniors were a riot, though.
