If someone comes up to you and calls you by name...?!

Question: and you don't remember theirs, do you ask their name or play if off?

Answers: and you don't remember theirs, do you ask their name or play if off?

play it off.

I play it off..too embarrassing otherwise..lol

play it off

play it off

play it off

play it off, while trying to remember their name

Ask it. oops

their going to bust you as soon as they get the chance so I would ask

i ask them

Bite the bullet, apologize, and ask them for their name.

play if off

tell them to shut up

Ask, politely.

play it by ear

Ask

i will ask who r u .and how do u know me

I generally apologize for forgetting their name and politely ask them what it is again. Playing it off is just rude, and maybe even more embarrassing the second time around when they call you by name again somewhere.

If someone took the time to learn your name, don't be lazy and not learn their's.

If I don't know their name, I just respond back (if I wanna know their name, I'll ask "what's your name?-I'm bad at names...")

Hello,
Everyone who knows me personally would never do that. They would say there name and go on from there. I have had a head injury and do not remember people, short term memory is shot.

If by chance someone would do this I would ask them there name and where I met them. Usually I am only out with my Mr. since I can not drive nor remember where I am at or why so I might ask him who the person is.

My Mr. has a thing that he is doing to get me to remember people by stopping talking to the person and trying to get me to talk to the person to jog my memory, of course this is embarrassing to me and I have asked him to quit.

Good question!

play it off =D
hehe

If someone comes up to me I usually can put a name to the face immediately. IF I can't remember.. I just say something like .. helloooooo how are youuuuuuu? How's life??? and let them ask all the questions too haha- while thinking, thinking and thinking till I get their name. It is pretty awkward.

haha play it off

play it off.............

sometimes

I'm sorry, but I've forgotten your name" works for me.
I have used this for many times, and it has never made anyone feel uncomfortable.
This turns out to work even when I say it 30 seconds after having been introduced to someone, which happens more often than I'd like. I could say, "I didn't catch your name," but to be honest, I just wasn't paying enough attention.
