Some of them deserve to sit in prison for the rest of their life, but some murders don't care if they go to jail. They are happy with what they have done... they deserve the death penalty.

Against, despite popular belief the death penalty does not deter violent crimes if anything it increases the amount of violent crime. And another thing, what happens if the person is innocent, oops. another thing that most of the sheep don't know is that it costs more to put someone to death then it does to house them in correctional facility.

I am sick knowing that Corzine repealed the death penalty on the guy who killed Megan, the girl Meagn's Law came from, I mean I dont remember every detail, but it was a very nasty murder to happen to an adult, butto a little girl makes it unexcusable

Well I would have to say I am AGAINST it. It just seems wrong to put someone on the death penalty....especially if they are actually innocent! Then they people end up killing the wrong person.
AGAINST. The death penalty doesn't deter crime. It's been around since the beginning of civilization, and we still have crime today. Lock 'em up for life, that's pretty much like taking their life away. At least this way, if they are later found to actually be innocent, they can gain their Freedom back.

Against. Aside from the moral issue of whether it is proper to take another's life, a defendant in a capital trial is unable to receive a fair trial too often. Economically, it is less expensive to incarcerate them than go through the expensive, Supreme Court mandated appeals process.

Against. I agree with Mr. G. To go farther, if we had a fool proof way of making sure that the person was innocent or guilty then I would have more faith in making a descision but the way things are currently there are too many what ifs to consider. I have said this before but I have sat in the lap of a murderer. I looked into his eyes and I think the best description to the criminal mind is what was stated in the movie Capote where he states that he and the killer were the same, the only difference was that he (*capote ) went out the front door and the killer went out the back. It dosent make anything OK in my book but it explains how quickly a persons life can go to hell. Like a tornado, killing everything in its path on the way down. Take Care-Rachel.
