NO.. and that is plain old job discriminate. I have never heard such bull crap in all my life.. I would sue the SOB's..That long at a job and lay you off for that?? Sounds fishy to me and I am sorry you lost your job on that technicality.

that is discrimanation find a lawyer

You could have a lawsuit if you can prove that. It is against the law.

Get a lawyer,that's illegal.

you can sue you know. that is against your rights. what if you don't want children, they cant just fire you... u should sue them

thats discrimination...call the labor board./ they cant lay youoff cuz of that....

That's crap ! FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE LABOR BOARD ! That's discrimination, you can sue them and you should.

That's not right. Senority should count.

That is utter BS IMO.
Its unconstitutional to discriminate because of family circumstances, you should contact your local courts or lawyer offices and see if you can make a case. Especially since you've been there that long.
If you can prove you're better.. although they may have the loophole that you were 'laid off.'

omg thats discrimination, but maybe it because you cant spell "off". lol jk.

You can dispute that...it's discrimination. I'm surprised they even admitted that to you. Here's a website for the labor relations board.

That's honestly the oddest thing I've ever heard. I work for a company with "Children" in the title and we work with and for children and I don't have kids. It's just a silly reason. I've heard of people being laid off because they HAVE children or intend to have them... wrong, but at least it makes more sense (time, commitment, etc)

You could talk to an attorney about this one if they actually said that to you.

apparently your employer has never heard of EEO
you have a great case, get a lawyer

never have seen an example of that. i have heard it talked about many years ago when the economy was real bad, inflation high, and fathers will lots of kids were last to be laid off. even the coal mine typcoons followed that policy. now they look for ways to cite some infraction or the last unfavorable job review. they set people up. that is what i know happens.

thats stupid i would get some help and fix that

You got canned bcuz you were there for 11 years and making more money than the other people who just started

Consider filing a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission at http://www.eeoc.gov

11 years omg, get a lawyer, right away you have a great law suit
