I read about this in a book called Freakonomics. This is a true story. One guy had two sons and one of them he called Winner and the other one he called Loser. The boy he named Loser actually grew up to have a better life and more successful career than his brother Winner. It's also like that Johnny Cash song A Boy Named Sue, where the guy grew up tough because he had to, having a girl's name.
I think when people hear someone's name they sometimes have a perception of what that person will be like because maybe they knew someone previously with that name and so have a preconceived notion about what they will be like. I do think that my life would be not necessarily better, but different if I had a different name.

I think you make your own luck to a certain extent. Although I did come accross a man called Mr S Hole not so long ago and I was thinking, 'you should definitely change that mate'!
Definitely. My name is so common. My kids have great names. They're gonna stand out and have better opportunities than I have.
