Just curious about something...?!

Question: If a blind person loses his or her eyesight very early on in life (before their concious mind learns to interpret sight and images) or if he or she is born blind, do they dream less because they have no visual images on which to base anything?

If they are born blind, do they dream in colour? Or do they simply exprience emotion and sound?

Are their dreams just as imaginatively rich as those who see?

I've heard that no one actually dreams in color and that your mind just fills in what it thinks should be there, in other words your mind wanders to random thoughts and your mind makes up the visual experience, this tells me that yes blind people do see stuff in dreams and yes it is in color plus I went to school with a blind kid who was in 3 of my classes and another kid asked him once and he said he sees stuff, but he wasn't born blind he went blind at like 6 months from some eye disease or something

i just wonder do blind people dream?

i think their dreams would be as rich and imaginatively as our as they have yet to seen the world so they would constantly think and dream what the world really is like.

And i do not think they dream in colour or dream of objects as they have never seen any before.

It's truly sad.

their dreams are images as ppl have described them

very good quest. !!! but,sorry..i have no idea !!!! food for thought though !!!!

wow that is a good question...I would think that they wouldnt be able to dream in proper color, they may have been given some type of idea what a color is...I always think of that movie Mask with Cher. but seems to me if you have no idea what the color is you couldnt dream of it...it has to come somehwere from your conscious mind..I dont think dreams are so random, I believe they come from something you have seen

Everyone dreams. The blind included. Their dreams might not include the visuals of sighted people, but I have no doubt that they are as imaginatively rich.

That is a really thought provoking question. My answer is obviously on a guess but I would say that no they do not dream less but just differently. I would guess they dream as they live. Their dreams would be more based in the their other senses instead of the sub concious causing their nerves in their eyes to feel like they are seeing things when they are dreaming they woudl cause their nerves else where to feel like they are touching or smelling things or hearing things..etc. I dont have a guess about the color part and as for being as imaginative I cant see why not. I like your question very much.

I think that just as dreams are a kind of reflection of our lives, their dreams would be a reflection of their life. What I mean is their dreams would be based on the other senses rather than on sight. They would smell, hear, taste, feel, etc instead of seeing their dreams.
If they became blind by some kind of accident rather than from birth, they would probably see stuff.
