I have stayed in Gatlinburg for over a week and went to Cherokee, NC and Pigeon Forge and lemme tell ya - I thought the whole area was GORGEOUS!
Gatlinburg is nice... but Dollywood is an overpriced tourist trap...
I used to live near there...Gatlinburg is really pretty. One of he few towns that hasn't become a psycho-neon tourist trap (unlike Pidgeon Forge...Ugh!).
My wife goes to Gatlinburg twice a year. She loves it. It`s OK for me too but I`d rather stay home and not answer the door. Gatlinburg is beautiful but is slowly turning into one large T-shirt shop owned by foreigners.
Gatlinburg is beautiful; at the edge of the Smokeys, it's great. Don't care much for DollyW and Pigeon Forge. I'm not from TN, but it has many beautiful sights.
