I can certainly understand what you mean as it does feel as though Christmas is merely a holiday for the retailers, while adults seem to be pressured into buying things. On one hand it is basically a financial burden at the individual level... on the other hand, it can be seen as "doing good for the overall economy" .....and then there's the third hand, depending on how religious a person chooses to be (but this tends to be a touchy subject).

As a kid, it felt good to be comforted in material objects... but as a more grown person, it just feels like another day for me... well, at least I have the day off though.

Edit: Looking back at this again, the holidays are not too bad as long as you are with your friends and family, which is essentially the true meaning of Christmas for most people. Again, it all comes down to how a person looks at the day.

Yup...just another day.

yes, i hate xmas...especially since i work at a mall

oh, heII yeah

agree

meh its not another day for me
having family reunions and opening gifts isnt casual for me
its a special day :)

merry x-mas!

well it depends if you celebrate Christmas for Jesus, as in your religious that way.
if you are and still see it as another day, that is truly wrong.

Nope Xmas is King.......

yeah because everything costs so much money, and it is just a way for stores to sell their stuff for more money.

Yes, I agree.

Yes. Just another cog in the capitalist machinery.

It's okay

Naaa Christmas is brilliant

Pretty much but it is still a great day for family

yes!! completely. Im sitting here eating chinese answering these questions lol

veerrryyy over rated !!!

I think its the time building up to christmas day thats kinda cool. The day itself is sweet for the kiddies.

I do so many people standing in lines in stores

yes..every value of christmas has been lost or changed now its just one day out the year when all the stores are closed

Your just not in the Christmas spirit.... like you said, it is because your baby is still so young. When he gets older it will be so much fun watching him get all excited that you will get excited too!

nope

i have found that like everything else in life you get out of it what you put into it. of course the little ones really are the icing on the cake. but i always enjoy it very much.

I think the sentiment has declined and its all too commercial, over coated by the lie of the whole Santa thing.

hate it!!!! super over rated!!! if you have kids.... its a lil better but still so over rated. its kinda like the retail world takes over to make some major cash off of people...

No..I think it's underrated in some ways.. I find a deeper meaning in it than presents.. It's the birth of Jesus. People forget that Christmas is about Christ and how he was born to die on the cross for our sins!...
Presents, food, and family are also fun too.. It's just a 'feel good' time of the year.. I think most people will agree with me on that one..
Merry Christmas :)

I think it is more hype than substance. I mean you bring in a dead tree. smoke up the house with candles.
make a mess and give each other gifts you don't want and they don't either and then gripe about what they cost.
You blow your diet on a bunch of junk food and have to throw up because you don't want that many calories in your body.
But if you don't eat all the adults will have a spaze attack.
Listen to a bunch of old people talk about what they did when they were kids. We have to sit around the house and listen to the younger kids fight over stuff.

The other christmas' used to be soo special. I would be like so excited on christmas eve but this time its just... bleh

i totally agree w/ "Tee". taking baby Jesus's b.day as just another day is just wrong by FARRR!!!

what it is is overly COMMERCIALIZED!!!!!! 1st of all, 2 much santa!! 2ndly, what the heck duz coca cola have 2 do w/ christmas???????? what duz santa/polarbears drinking coca cola have 2 do w/ christmas????? why do they think its called CHRISTmas??? Jesus/God arent given nearly enuf credit.

No I don't think it's overrrated.

Well it is the time way before and Jesus in the bible didn't have his day and so a certain colony gave the 25 of December his day and it just so happened to be that people think he was born on that day but no one knows for sure when he was born.

So no i think it is a special time of year for loved ones to celebrate the Christ our lord and savior.
