I NEED i-pod help?!

Question: Ok this is the thing..........I already have i-tunes & my i-pod set up............I bought my girlfriend a i-pod nano 4 christmas . When I plug hers up for the first time , I dont want it to download any of my playlists , i dont want there to be the same material on both i-pods . how dose that work ? how do you do it?
