Yep. I loved a guy who thought of me as just his friend. I stayed in the background and acted like I was just a friend until he finally noticed me and we have now been married for 24 years. But you have to be sure that it is love, not just a crush.

For awhile I was in love when my "boyfriend" wasn't. He is incapable of love, even with the girl he is currently with he tells me all the time how many times he's wanted to leave her but has no where else to go and how they fight all the time and that he doesn't trust her.

One sided love to me is you not liking yourself enough to say "I deserve someone that will love me back." When you get to the point that you can say that, then and only then will you be able to let this person go and find the real person out there for you. Yes I have been in it before. And no, I didn't like myself at that point and time. I finally left and now have been married for almost 10 years to a wonderful person that loves me back. It's a great feeling.. try it! :)

yup, and to me it is a self torture if you will continue loving a person who can't love you back. We can love a person as long as we want but what is important is to have a courage and strength to start anew when you realize that it is time to move on.

I'm pretty much at a point now, at nearly 32, that there either isn't going to be someone for me, or it will take eternity before that right someone comes along.
It sucks to love someone who doesn't love you. It sucks worse to be the object of someone's affection when you don't love them, because you know you'll end up hurting them in the end. I've been on both sides, and I'd rather get hurt than hurt someone else.
