Did Axl Rose think too much of himself or his music?!

Well I admire his confidence and determination in his music.
What I don't admire is the fact that he thought he could be in complete control in terms of the musical direction the band was going in.
I don't know if that's considered as "thinking too much of himself", but it's not a very admirable trait none the less.
