You just hit the nail on the head there, Tina! That's me, soaking up all the sounds of silence all around me. I'm glad I live out in the country where I can enjoy such things, when I want. I would go crazy with city life, too fast paced for me!!
I dont know why, but sometimes silence is the worst noise possible. I dont like the nothingness that surrounds you all at once. Can you say clostrophobic??? But other times, like when you're tired and have a headace, silence is the best medicine.
Silence doesn't have a sound. its the voices in your head you hear.

sometimes its nice to sit alone and have no noise or movement around you...but other times silence is so loud. it guess it just depends on what mood i am in
If you are outdoors it is the sounds of nature that you are enjoying and those are so peaceful the sooth the soul. I love going for long walks in the desert and listening to those lovely sounds. But, at home, I love it when I can shut off the lights the TV and set there in the darkness and enjoy the peace and quiet of the dark. The Simon and Garfunkel song the Sound of Silence seems to tell the story.

I to love to sit outside and just have it all queit and listen to the sounds of nature only! Oh I have had it so quiet I could hear a leaf drop...that is so nice..seems that is when I am at my most peace...and can take the time to think of nothing at all..or to have deep thoughts...that all depends on my mood..but nothing like it!
