Question: ideal and preferred lifestyle such as being gay, being religious, believing in certain theories..
why do some try to persuade others and prove that what's true and false when actually it doesn't directly bother them?
for example, why would atheists want to convince that there's no God to believers?
why would some people be homophobic when gays don't do anything harmful to them?

people fight for what they see or think is right, it is human nature
cos they think their way is best, they have strong opinions.
People are more comfortable with people just like themselves. The especially insecure can only be comfortable if everyone is like them, therefore, they try to convince any one not like them to be like them. It gets old in a hurry, doesn't it?

Actually...Atheist don't really try to convince anyone of anything as much as believers do. I think this is a pretty biased question. I think you're trying to be open minded, but it's not quite there yet.
