just be yourself, but remember to take things slowly. get to know the person before you get mushy
I don't think there's anything wrong with being "mushy". She just doesn't appreciate who you are. I think you need to keep being yourself until you can find someone who appreciates you for you!
Honestly not trying to be mean or troll here.
You need to get over it, whatever IT was. Chicks can really dig mushy and all that rot but folks like you and me, well... we can get a bit clingy, jealous and insecure?
You need to find your confidence, otherwise you will ALWAYS have trust issues.
