When you think of a song you like, do you hear every note being played in to son!
Question: or do you just think of the words and can't hear the song play ing you head. Kind of like just quoting it or do you actually hear it? And do you hear each seaprate instrument or just the basic beat or what?
BTW, I really prefer non-MUSICIANS answer this. They would know only what they hear and not have musical training.

Yes I can hear even without the words, I usually do that when in deep thought.
I can make my own symphony in my head too! But I'm not a musician.

I will listen to the words and then the rhythm
I recall the entire song, lyrics, notes instruments and all. I have not been trained musically.
I remember hearing Mick Jaggers voice for the first time in the song "your so vain." It totally changed the whole song for me. I may not hear individual instruments the first time but eventually through listening I do. There are songs I can't stand but I will like one instrument or one part of the song. I listen to the layers.
