Well its WINTER! Its gonna be cold. 5 degrees is nothing, minus 5 and lower is when its time to moan about the cold.

mine doesn't scream but it bleeps in an annoyed manner if i leave the lights on or i try to drive with the hand brake on, mind you my husband bleeps in an annoyed manner when I do that too!
Mine just pings, but it's a Dodge truck, so it's a little heartier than most.
On the socks, you're only limited by the foot/shoe size differential, accounting for toe wiggle.

lol. i'm using 2 pairs of socks and boots plus tight and heater poultice to reduce the cold of my feet lol. if only one of my dang visitor could go home alone, then i don't need to drive him home. but since i have to drive him home, so still waiting what time he will say "have me a ride". it 3deg here. lol
