I would say it is probably your fault for not paying more attention in school. I couldn't spell well in school but the rules stuck and I do pretty good now.

i think everyone has ability for anything, its up to them to work to their potential. so this means that its not the school system its your own fault. i know many people who were just lazy in school and because of that they cannot spell properly

I'd have to say it's a little of both. School systems suck nowadays, but you've been out of school long enough to have honed your spelling skills on your own if you really wanted to.

Maybe you should have done your homework as a child. A lot of kids just do enough to get through school rather than actually take in the information.
