Yes, I do. Most of the time it's one of the neighborhood kids wanting to play with my kids. =)
I have a speaker phone. I ask them who they are first, before answering the door.
Yes. Even if they were planning to rob my house or something, my dog would definitely scare them off (she'd never attack someone but she SOUNDS like the most vicious, intimidating animal ever!)
I live alone. I only answer it when I'm expecting someone. If I'm not expecting them, they shouldn't be ringing my bell.
i look out the peep hole first and make sure it isn't anyone trying to sell me anything =)
I have a door entry phone so I dont physically go to the door much safer.
I never answer the door if the person/people don't call first. I'm waiting patiently for the day that someone tries to break in a surprise, surprise, someone's home- I want to 'take care of them' myself.

i'm never home alone.... my dog is always there with me..... so i guess i wouldn't know. but i do always answer the door cause i am the crazy one with the axe, i'm not too worried about who is outside the door.....
