A civil war is like a brother fighting with his brother. It's ridiculous and it is not even considered "civil". It's immature a country needs to think twice before it kills innocent citizens. Just like in the Civil War of the U.S from 1861-1865.

Civil is not relating to stuff like manners, but rather the citizens. Civil is a derivative from the Latin word Civis meaning citizen. A civil war meaning citizen war, i.e. a war between the citizens of a country.

How many African slaves would you like to answer that question? It may have been an afterthought, but the end of slavery in the United States was still the result of our Civil War. Sure, it took another 100+ years for anything approaching equality to take shape on the horizon, but it had to start somewhere.

I have to agree! Why do people call wars between the country itself civil wars. They should be called inner wars.
i don't know that we need it but i do think it's kind of inevitable. people are going to fight when you put someone in power over the other. sometimes, civil war can have good effects. it can take bad people out of power. i'm not saying the benefits outweigh the death toll, but the benefits are there.

You know I'm hard pressed to find an established country in this world that has not had at least one civil war. It's a natural part of a nation's evolution. This country, now? Probably not. in the 1800's, yes it had to happen.
