Great question! When I'm engaged in creative writing, I sometimes go into a "zone." What comes out is often beautiful, profound or hilarious. When this happens, I am always astonished that such ideas and phraseology came out of me.
In all fairness, sometimes what comes out is also silly, stupid or mundane. That stuff doesn't astonish, but rather disappoints. However, "that stuff" is never seen by anyone but me. I would hate to ruin my friends' illusion that I am brilliant & witty. ~Z=D
No - it astonishes me more than sometimes, more like... often.
