Ready for a revamp?!

Question: OK...i did say that things would change for me in 2008...i'm now single again after 11 boring years, i have alot of plans (work wise) on the horizon, but my main thing is i want to make my home my own again, at the mo it's my livingroom, it's like a coffee and creme colour with some antique furniture in which i want to keep, i have a carpet down which is old and thread bare, my couch and chairs are creme leather, but now in the process of cracking, i have this manky little coffee table that i cannot use because of the heat stains when i put a cup on it, my curtains are hand made but soooo out of date (terracotta) and i am tired of this old look, i want a whole new look and i have no clue where to start, i would like some help with colour scheming and decor...any ideas would be wonderful...i am starting my revamp tomorrow, so what do you think i should i go for? i want to brighten the place up and make it more liveable...i am tired of dark and boring...thanks in advance... :)

take a look at this and play around

RED RED RED! and PINK~!

Yes do it

Red and Black

nice soft pastel colours

Good for you I did the same last year as was fed up with green yes green!!
So started with stripping the walls first and deciding what we wanted colour wise and I always wanted a red carpet so I picked warm reds and oranges sounds bad but it is not honest as cream is there to tone it all down.
Our living room is huge and needed to be brought together so put a dado rail all the way round and a plain paper for bottom and top half my cream/red/orange paper it looks great lovely and warm and welcoming. Also all we need to do in future is paint bottom and replace top half to suit.
We then sorted out the furniture bit by bit we could not afford to do it all in one go so we got red carpet first, then sofa's the rest come as we could save.
Beige and browns seem to be the in colour when I have watched the make over shows but also orange is in there too.
Tats Get stripping them walls and start with blank canvas.

what is your budget

if you like blue then i would go blue, my livingroom is blue and get curtens that have several colors in, i like peach, blue and white and it looks good, also i have pillows that are blue, but things that are light in color but also not to light because you can see everything on it, brighten it up with some nice decoration, you can buy fake plants which are the best because you can get fake plants in just about any color not just green, go and look for curtain there are many styles available and you have the find the ones you like best, i just bought a carpet who has different colors in it like blue, dark blue, burgendy litle of white and black and it really looks nice but you buy what you like also if you like the look of oriental you can get one of those and they come in different colors to, i have alot of pictures of flowers on the wall also fake flowers arrond them and under and there blue white and peach but again there is other colors, i hope i could help a litle, have a nice day.

Tatts, I'm crap when it comes to Interior Designing.....Hubby is a builder/Carpenter and both my eldest sons are Painters and Decorators so I just follow their advice. All I know is that Wooden/Laminate flooring is on the way out and carpet back in. Good for you out with the old and in with the new. Hope it all works out hun xx

I wouldn't really know tatty taste is personal but just found you attitude uplifting and wanted to good on you girl, you sound positive.

Thank you Tatty I need to just say that to you too, sounds like you will find a nice decor that will suit just takes time to decide doesn't it..................

Have a look through some old magazines for some inspiration - don't worry too much about what is in fashion though, because at the end of the day it's you who has to live with it, so it has to be what YOU like!!!!!

Last year I moved from an old, traditional flat, to a more modern one, and chose to decorate in brown/beige/cream, with beech furniture, but sometimes I really miss the warmth of my previous colour scheme, which was burgundy/white with mahogany furniture - so have a good think first before you act!!!!!
Good luck, and all the best for 2008.

Good luck!!!!!! i love medium things.,,so go MEDIUM!!! x

Try lilac - that's what I would like my walls repainted but I shall wait for Spring for it drying and to warn my boys in advance that they need to set some time aside to do it!

Red and purple get down to one of those furniture shops were you don't pay for 2 yrs or the interest free ones were you pay over 4 yrs interest free my living room needs a revamp and i am planning to do this as it is the only way i can afford i have 3 sons one at uni and money is tight so i am thinking of this colour scheme it will make you feel a lot brighter.
