For a starving person, is stealing food a crime?!

Question: Put it another way- next to you on a supermarket exit, you see someone poor and hungry who manages to steal a loaf of bread thus, the supermarket staff pursuing him....would you tell them which direction he ran away?

Answers: Put it another way- next to you on a supermarket exit, you see someone poor and hungry who manages to steal a loaf of bread thus, the supermarket staff pursuing him....would you tell them which direction he ran away?

I would not, but I would offer them the cost of the loaf. But why steal it? Isn't it easier to go to the Salvos or some other charity for food?

lol idk omgsh roflmfao

probably not

Not at all.

Edit: A hungry and poor man does not crave caviar or imported chocolates.

NO, not at all....

Nope, the man is hungry and he is poor. And besides it's not like he stole some ladies purse. And it's only a loaf of bread. Let him be! Hope I helped.

"The end justifies the means."

Yes! It's bad thing to do when you are starving. You can ask for the people along the road fro food. That's will be the best way to get food when you are starving.

Yes, they should get a job and pay for the food..

tell them the wrong direction or say i dont know

NO! I'd pay for the bread.

Nope, let the starving person eat the food that he or she stole. He or she needs it.

no

no because he is starving and yes because he is stealing so pick one

Nope. The market can afford a lost loaf. What they can't afford is to lose staff chasing the guy.

not sure

no course not. if they are hungry and have no other way of getting food then that's fine. i spose xx

"I didn't see no one".

depends if he steals it from another poor person!!

and no

not on your heart but on paper it is

no probly not

I would in fact make a point of "Yes, I saw him, he looked very hungry and he cost you a dollar worth of bread, I will pay for it because he looked like he needed it, please dont make it a big deal"

Yes it is still a crime but no i would not tell him which way he ran lol i would say the other way lol

If I saw a poor hungry man trying to steal food at the supermarket I would stop him from doing so and offer to buy him the bread plus some more food. Poor guy!

because its a starving person, i wouldn't tell which direction he ran away because he needs food and he doesn't have any. why bother to tell on him then? i know its wrong and all, but i don't have the heart to do that.

I doubt someone could run if they are truly starving to death, but to answer your question no it shouldn't be a crime.

In that case no probably not. But it isn't right....what about if you were standing in line at an ATM and someone who had no money grabbed yours and ran away....same type of scenario but because it involves cash I think most people would say which direction he ran.

Hmm idk why this reminded me of Disney's Aladdin lol.

I was at Walmart once and saw this man put a package of cold cuts in his coat. He was scuffled and dirty. He saw that I saw but I looked away. I felt sorry for him. When I looked back he was gone. If he would have waited, I would have purchased him the cold cuts and some other food. What I don't understand about the US is that we're always helping other countries battle food starvation but its happening right here in our own backyard.

no matter what situation your in, its still a crime. if it was just a loaf of bread, then out of the goodness of my heart i wouldn't tell them but if you find that the person continually does it, then yes. next time your in the supermarket, pick up a loaf of bread for him.

nope, been in that situation myself (a long long time ago)

No I would not tell them anything. If someone is so hungry they should be fed.
