In America it's only one serving because we are all fat and don't have a clue what portion sizes are. Just because we are fat and eat to much doesn't mean food companies should start changing their ways...

I hear ya dude. Did you know when you buy a 12 ounce can of Coke, the back says that's a serving and a HALF. Now who does NOT consider one can of soda one serving. Give me a frickin break.

But I'm sure they're perfectly aware that for most Americans, that's not actually four servings... The problem is that macaroni & cheese is too dang good! If they'd just make it nasty, then that would truly be four servings (or more likely one teeny tiny serving, + 20 servings' worth of leftovers, until it finally gets tossed).
This way, with mac & cheese being so delicious, they know people will pick up a box in the store and say, "Ooh, macaroni & cheese is tasty! I'll want a lot of it... I should see how many servings I get in this box!" Then they'll look, & go, "Four servings? That's a WAY better deal than a box that (truthfully) lists having ONE serving! I'm buying *this* one!" and then they take it home. And they soon discover what we already know, but already having become a slave to the m&c deliciocity, they just continue to buy it, except now 8 boxes at a time. It's all one big marketing ploy.

i think it's their way of promoting 'sharing'... do you suppose you'd get arrested if you took it upon yourself to start correcting it yourself? at the supermarket, w/ a sharpie 'ultra' fine point? you never know, it might draw media attention and then Kraft might reconsider their servings suggestion.
Yeah, I've felt that was inaccurate myself. I just resorted to taking a white out pen and scratching out the 4 servings and write in 1. Makes me feel good doing this.
