My first thought is that person is wearing one of those darn bluetooth thingies in their ear and they're talking into it.

I assume that they are wearing a handsfree. If they're not I would think that it was cool. Don't go boring(a.k.a normal) on me now!!!
Yeah probably talking to someone using bluetooth. I do that most of the time, at work, at home, everywhere! Wow, do we look nuts when we do that?!!!

Ha ha, I do that, and I just read Cassandra C's answer, and what I do is just the opposite; I'll wear a headset while I'm in public, so I can look like I'm talking on the phone, and what I'm really doing is talking to myself!

OK, since you don't know what I look like I'll give you a break. It was probably me walking by and talking, I do it all the time. People look at me strange and the whole nine yards and I just look strange back.
Heck, it's normal for me and I see plenty of others doing it too!!!
