yes it is when your computer crashes , or you go on vacation, or get really busy with your new job .
I think they forget.

Maybe they think that more than one answer deserves to be best answer. So they leave it up to us to decide on it.
People usually don't stay on yahoo answers. they ask one and they leave. horrible.
Sometimes they get really busy so they extend the expriration date. Or maybe they can't decide who to vote as the best answer. Or maybe they forget as well.
Some people say it's too many answers to choose from. Others just forget. Me, I MUST resolve my OWN questions, so that people won't get best answer for rude remarks. Do you think someone would deserve a BEST ANSWER for calling me a whore & dumb?
coz sometimes there really is no best answer! like they were all total crap!
Well sometimes when I don't pick, it's either because I can't decide which answer to pick or because I haven't been online to pick it.
Could be because they didn't really get an answer that they liked. I, on the other hand, ALWAYS choose a best answer. Even if it's not quite what I wanted.
What's wrong with it? Say you ask a question and you get 90-something answers....do u really want to read every single answer? It's okay to put a few questions to vote if you don't feel like reading everything.
maybe they just don't like any of the answers and prefer to let the community pick. Personally i agree with you and prefer to get 3 of my 5 lost points back.
I've wondered that myself and I can understand if you get 20 or more answers and 3 are really close and it's hard to make up your mind but some are under 6 and there really is only 1 best answer and they still don't give one. Maybe they forget about it. I receive alot of B.A. from the voters.
I am guilty for two reasons:
1. Sometimes a question such as "what is your favorite color" This really does not have a best answer, it is a survey type question and I feel does not warrant someone getting points for a best answer.
2. I often can not be on the computer prior to my question being ready to pick. Last night I closed out about 6 questions, other times I have to leave some hanging due to illness, being too busy, or I just forget.
sometimes none of the answers are good, they forget, or they want to see what the public likes best.
sometimes i forget especially if i don't log on for a few days.
