Is there any antiquated wedding tradition more barf-inducing than "asking t!

Question: I'm shocked that people still want guys to jump through this hoop, and I thought I'd ask y'all.

No, no there's not. If the ol' man said no he'd be asking any damn way...so what's the point?

i think you should go and see the parents of the bride first. nothing wrong with being a gentleman

It's part of the Philippine culture and tradition.

I am a Filipino and I'd say, before an engagement, the guy should really have to face the girls parents and old relatives and ask for her hand.

Asking means, planning about the wedding, the 'olds' giving you some advice. It also comes with all those, are you sure? you're not gonna hurt my daughter, would you? better return her to me than lifting a finger on her, the likes. And, a small party follows.

If you really love the girl, you would'nt mind doing that, would you? You won't be hurt or anything, it's a gesture of showing respect to the elderly.

I'm already vomiting , so the idea doesn't make me not want to vomit.
Hy husband didn't ask my dad. My dad hates my husband.

Where do you think something borrowed, something blue came from?

Actually it doesn't make me vomit at all. My husband did all the stuff but not because I asked him too or even expected him to. It is just his way and we have been married/together for many years now. My parents love my hubby and vice versa, we are all just so frickin happy.
