Many adults in the United States believe illegal immigrants are a problem, according to a poll by TNS released by the Washington Post and ABC News. Fifty-six per cent of respondents think illegal immigrants do more to hurt the country, while 37 per cent say they help the country.

Myself, I believe that immigrants arent exactly hurting us. If we allow them in LEGALLY then they would probably help the US population and help us progress. America was built on differences and freedoms. It was founded for a New World in which people can start off new. I believe that we should keep this reputation for America and allow Immigrants in....Because, in the end our ancestors were almost ALL imigrants. You have to start somewhere.....

They are breaking laws, and allowing that sets a bad example to everyone, providing justifications to break other laws as well. Our country is what it is because of the laws that hold it together, so they are hurting all of us, and the country itself. There are legal ways to come to the US, and if they truly respect this country, they will follow them.
There's a huge socio-economic factor.
not hurting, but its not fair that they get special treatment when they dont even bother to learn our language. i think that if you want to move to a different country, learn their language!!! how do they expect to work and survive when they cant even communicate with people?

i personally don't mind but it upsets me to hear people talk about them as if they are cockroaches.
i mean they do the jobs we won't yet we say that they are taking all our jobs.
If you are speaking about illegal immigrants, I believe they are hurting our economy, because they come here, get jobs, and take their money back to their home country. If they want to come live here and work, go thru the system, just like everyone else.
Why do they get so much government help? Where do our taxes go?

To start with immigrants aren't hurting us, illegal immigrants are. I assume you are speaking of the illegal sort. First off, well it's illegal for them to be here. We spend money to keep them out, deport them when they come in. It costs government money to support them when they come in and demand all sorts of rights and money. They take jobs at lower wages. This keeps legal citizens from getting these jobs. Please don't start with the whole thing about how Americans don't want these jobs. We don't want the piddly wages the owners want to pay, so they cut corners. Big difference. Then the crime that happens. I am not saying that they are all criminals, but some commit crimes while here...and any is too many. Now once again the taxpayers are burdened to prosecute and incarcerate these people. Now tell me, how are they not hurting anyone. I have no problem with people coming to this country...LEGALLY. Bring 'em in. As long as they are legal to be here, the more the merrier. Once you aren't supposed to be here...get 'em out!
I think it is something the government & the media are hyping to get people all riled up. We have had illegals here for years and it wasn't a problem. They get paid way less to do jobs we don't want. They pay into taxes & social security with fake identities that they can never collect on. The IRS claims that they get over $500 million from illegal aliens that pay into the system. They are here whether we like it or not. We should do something so they pay thier share. We should abolish the IRS in favor of a national sales tax. That way everyone pays thier share whether it's a multimillionaire or an illegal alien.
No immigrants in the U.S. are not hurting anyone or anything,but illegal immigrants break our laws,drain our welfare,and take advantage of the system,because it is discrimination to say anything aganist them being here illegally.There is a right way,why don't they do it like all the other legal immigrants.What good are laws if we don't abbide by them.
Well, remember USA is what it is because of the immigrants that came for the American dream.and make the nation strong.
The ones the came to abuse the system are the ones who make the good ones look bad. Will see what happen to them.Lets hope they learn the American way and be a plus for our country and if not they can go back to where they come from.
