No, no, no! Don't do it. I used to get perms when I was younger, and they fried my hair. Took FOREVER to grow out, and when it was, I had the straight on top, poofy sides thing going on... never again. Still have nightmares!

Haven't had one in years. They usually come out in about 4 months or so....Could be more or less depending on your hair type, if it was a good perm, how fast your hair grows, etc......As some have mentioned you have to be really careful about conditioning your hair after you get because your hair can get fried and damaged a bit, so you want to use good, deep conditioners.....
No, in fact I was really sensitive to the chemicals and it broke all of my hair off...no joke, I was bald on top for the longest time =(
Yes I loved it, and hadit done many times. You may not want to go straight all the time again. I dont. However, when ur letting it grow out, it will look like crap. I couldnt get it permed while I was pregnant and after like 9 months, it looked bad. So if you wanna go back to straight, get Brazilian Keratin Treatment.

Don't do it. Perms are out of style, unless you go to a VERY expensive salon to make sure the curl doesn't look "permed".
I haven't had one in years. My hair doesn't hold a perm very long. Unless you get a tight frizzy perm, you won't have to wait for it to grow out. It relaxes over time, and washing and using conditioner also helps. Get a body perm if you're not sure. It just adds body and wave.

no it really dried out my hair. especially if you dye you hair alot please have it professionally done don't do it yourself like we say it a kitchen job no no no.... the boo boo boo......

My mom had her and I get a perm when I was 16 back then it was like the farrah hair style and I had it and liked it...then she decided we both needed more body and such and her friend gave us the perms...I DID NOT LIKE IT. I felt like a poodle and it was too tight of a perm. I hated it....
I also gave myself a home perm 3 years ago to see if I would like it...I say make sure you have big curlers to do it so at least you can get a wave the small ones caused me nothing but grief always got tangles and took an hour one day trying to get a knot out that I cried myself to death and landed up cutting it out! If you have curly hair or wavy hair I suggest not to get a perm.
You know what you can do to see if you like it, go to a wig store and try on a hair that is permed already and see if it is something you like first. That way you got to see and are able to take it off right away if you do not like it.
I just got a perm a few days before Christmas and yes I like My Perm and you do not have to wait till it grows out,I grow tired of mine after about 4-6 months and I go and buy a straightener from wal-mart and use it and my hair becomes straight again.

I had one about 15 years ago I loved. Then I got one LAST Jan. and I hated it. I looked like someone from the Jerry Springer show. It does take a VERY long time to grow it out if you don't like it. Mine is just now starting to look good again. Think long and hard before you do it!
