That's true in most cases, but certain TV shows like family game shows can get the family to watch it together.
Interesting food for thought, but look at what's happened to TV since the writer's strike - things haven't changed. Thanks to these interactive boxes we're all playing with, TV is no longer the world's biggest family killer.

This is interesting because I live alone and my TV died and I am going crazy. Hearing the background noise makes me feel less alone. But from your standpoint, I would have to agree.
