Poll: Why do women have different names for small differences in color?!

Question: Take red for example. Most guys think nothing more of red as red, or at most dark red, light red, etc. Now women will have names like Maroon and tons more. Why do women do this?

Women are more detailed in describing things. From colours right down to feelings! True?

Don't blame us - blame crayola

because we are fashionistas

Not all women, Hon. I guess I'm more like a guy in that aspect.
Then again, I heart American Football.

that is why you want us

Because it is a different color to us!!

I believe there is a biological reason for this - originating in the brain. Women 'see' more colors and the slight variations. Men don't. I read this somewhere. It probably contained scientific mumbo jumbo evidence - but who can remember big words?!

Because women are dramatic

Squirrel, it's because there are specific names for specific shades of colors. If the distinctions between the colors is visible to a person, why not learn and use their proper names?

Crimson is not the same as scarlet is not the same as barn red, and maroon is totally different from any of those, falling somewhere between a true red and a true deep purple, whereas burgundy is similar to maroon but deeper still, with strong elements of black.

Our DNA actually hasn't changed for thousands of years. So on a biological standpoint, our DNA is practically the same as when we were cavewomen. If you think of it this way, the slightest difference in color could be the difference in a poisonous plant or fruit that could kill the tribe/family and a healthy, ripe fruit or plant that could provide nourishment. Yeah, we're much more into fashion now and our culture and society has changed, but inside our DNA doesn't know that...Men, on the other hand weren't responsible for this as cavemen. They were the hunters and hunters focus on the hunt until it's caught. The hunt is ONE thing to focus on not various shades of that thing. A dark brown deer is no more or less nutritiuous than a light brown deer if that makes sense.

Well because that's the color they are.. you know black is also called ebony...white, has more as in ivory, ecru...Dont think women made up these color names.. they have been around for a while and I bet a man made them up too.

It's because they care about fitting thing together, I'm like this but I don't use the names I describe them which makes things more complicated.

and if you color my world just paint it
with your love.
