It depends on the individual women. Mine was 50, my friend was 45, another friend was 52. At your age, you're probably experiencing "perimenopause."

More info:

Usually at 50-55. Some get it at 30 although it's a rarity to.

My mother is 52 and hers' started at around 48.

Great question. Glad it was here cause I wouldn't have seen it in Women's Health.

I find it starts as soon as she moves in with me!

.... Anytime.... after..... " 13 " ! ! !

Thanks, RR

I'm 48 and I'm still waiting. It's different for everyone.

Psh 40's early 50's my librarian was on menopause and she was acting so stuck up

I'm not sure, but it can't come soon enough for me! Hate these monthly inconveniences.

It could be, some people even start earlier than that. Get your hormone level checked to make sure its nothing else.

Probably 48- up.

around 40 it is different for every other woman it depends u might be

It varies greatly, affected by things like heredity, age at first menses, hormone problems, etc. I am almost 47, and just beginning some symptoms. 387 is young, but by no means unheard of!
The only way to know for sure is to have hormone levels in your blood checked.

like 50 my stepmoms 53 and she has it

your to good looking to have the have it ,so go outhave a good time, and turn down the heating

soapy

uh oh....hot flashes! I*m 49 and I started with the hot flashes this year, but you can be in your 30s and start, too.

Pre Menopause around middle 30's.

for women around there forty's.Men never.

I'm 33 and I'm still good. they do say men get it before woman. I'll keep you posted.

It can start at anytime after 30 or 35 and there is a test to check to see if you are menopausal

The average age of menopause is 51 years, and the normal age range for last period ever is somewhere between age 45 to 55. Age 55 to 60 for last period ever is described as a "late menopause". An "early menopause" is defined as last period ever between the age of 40 to 45.

Some women reach menopause at a much younger age than average, especially if they have had cancer or another serious illness, and have undergone chemotherapy. This is sometimes referred to as a "chemical menopause".

Premature menopause (or premature ovarian failure) is defined as last period ever occurring before the age of 40; it occurs in 1% of women and is not viewed as being due to normal causes. Some known causes of spontaneous premature menopause include autoimmune disorders, thyroid disease, and diabetes mellitus, but often it is idiopathic in nature.

Premature menopause is diagnosed or confirmed by measuring the levels of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH); the levels of these hormones will be higher if menopause has occurred. Rates of premature menopause have been found to be significantly higher in fraternal and identical twins; approximately 5% of twins reach menopause before the age of 40. The reasons for this are not completely understood. Transplants of ovarian tissue between identical twins have been successful in restoring fertility.
