Question: Pros - you make more friends, people can e-mail you saying hello and you end up chatting.
Cons - you'll always get some prat who doesn't agree with you, but it's only happened the once with me.

Pros- You get to know people and your contacts better
Con- Hate mail, but I just ignore that
pro: you get to know your contacts better.
con: some contacts turn out to be really creepy.
I have had only a couple of nasty letters, and you can report them and action is quite rapid, as one miscreant found out, much to his outrage.
