The organ doner thing (being compulsary) good thing or bad?!

Question: i think good, what say you?

Answers: i think good, what say you?

Good. Very good in fact.

good i've been a doner for years

I think it is a good think, if you dont want to donate then you should opt out, and it should be the persons wish not the wish of the family.

a doner is a sort of kebab, so no, i'd rather not have one made of organs.....
(think you mean donor)

The Proposal isn't to make it compulsary which would be wrong....but to make it that you have to opt out rather than opt in....so it will be assumed that you wish to donate your organs unless you have stated that you don't want to....I suspect that most people would want to donate, but have never bothered to get a donor card.

I think it's good

good cos at the end of the day your dead so whos gonna miss anything your spirit has gone so its just a shell thats left so why not help someone else live

Bad,they're my bits and I'm being slung in the hole in the ground with them.I'm no pick n mix.

Is that what they make the kebabs out of, then?

bad very bad people should have the choice to go out of this world the same way they come into it.

I think it is a great thing. I honestly cannot see a bad angle. Supporting those who are ill or have been in accidents seems a non-brainer.

i think its good! However i dont want them to take my eyes. Strange i know but i dont know how it will work, would i get a say in what they can and cant take? If i get to heaven and ive no eyes i will not be happy! lol

Bad Thing!!!

I have the option where I live to be a donor or not to be.

Compulsory donor law's raise question's as far as if it could be corrupted and made into a for profit thing, by criminals and insurance companies.

BTW, I freely choose to be a donor where I live, and fully respect those who don't.

Check out the old school movie "Coma". Watch it, it may change your mind.

Good, been a donor since I knew we could do it!

Bad

bad
nobody is touching my sexy body

It has been put forward as if you don't want to play you let them know. It is not compulsory yet you have the choice I think it is good, if you are dead then you don't need your liver any more do you? If one of my loved ones should die I would prefer that they gave someone else a chance of life, it is one way of them living on.

I think good..........I have been one forever!

GG

Roundabouts and swings .... good as it would mean there would be more organs around for essential operations .... but bad as would mean that organs would effectively be owned by the state, ie. you would be owned by the state and many do not like that idea. (But only if you didn't opt out ... so minor really).

However, as it is an "opt-out" program and you can "opt-out" ... then I do not really see where the problem lies, as that choice is still there. To my mind the positives outweigh the negatives.

Edit: Why are so many banging on about rights ? You have every right to opt out if you do not want your organs donated, all you have to do is opt out. Where are your losses of rights ? The choice still exists, it is just down to the individual to opt out, rather than opt-in ... simple enough surely ?

bad thing. it's taking away your rights

I think its a good idea. a dead person does not need their organs, but a living person might have a chance of a better life with an organ transplant

good and bad there are negatives and positives to everything

Well, I don't think I will need my organs, six feet under and I am sure, God understands that better than me.

P.S. In which country is it "compulsory" ?

I say bad. Some people have various beliefs that prevent them from donating. What about "Coma"? I see the dangers of bumping off the living to help the dying.

If a doctor knows that your organs may be of used elsewhere - is he going to do every last thing to try to save you - even if it means making your organs un-usable?

Extra cardiac massage - a large dose of dangerous drugs etc.

It may only have a 2% chance of saving you, but if there is a 100% chance of damaging your organs for transplant, whats the doctor going to do?

Doctors (particularly via the GMC) have too many agendas other than doing the best for the individual patient in front of them for my liking.

should be down to choice!!
