um..ya might wanna forego the coughing up of hair balls though....
the way i get their attention is to sit in the middle of my kitchen floor and spin around on my butt. it gets everybody over .cats dog,hubby...
if i do it long enough, i can even get my unimpressed daughter to come down, and take a look.
side note: this works best with pants on.
walk around the house giving updates/ newsflashes of your life to your family...whether they want them or not

Sometime while they are all sleeping (say, like 2am), shine large floodlights into their bedrooms from outside. When they wake up, tell them that the sun now rises at 2am because you decided it should, and that they should make you cinnamon toast for breakfast immediately.

Walk around the house singing, "Mi...mi...mi....miiiiii." Until you have all the attention and when they have followed you around the house at least 3 times announce that you have finally found the center of attention!
