Why do people continue to say innocent until proven guilty?!

Question: That is not accurate. It is innocent unless proven guilty. Or is it a foregone conclusion that the person will be found guilty?

For the same reason that people quote the line from "Casablanca" as "Play it again, Sam" - a line which does not exist.

You can assume therefore that people are either,

a. thick, or

b. blindly repeat a misused phrase without thinking about it's proper meaning

Well, they are going to be prosecuted, the jury decides.

Not unless they were innocent

Not in Los Angeles! Here you're guilty til proven innocent!

life experience NO ONE IS INNOCENT except new born baby but then they will end up not innocent any wayz

To see how fat they end up going

until meaning when, unless meaning whether or not, many have asked the question before some things just never change.

because they are most likely guilty and the are innocent till their case is called. did i just say that ? my brother and sis will kill me literaly!!!!!! they are locked up!!!!!

Because everyone deserves to be treated as "innocent",until there are facts shown that prove otherwise.
Makes a huge difference ,if you are accused of hitting a cop.And your arresting officer treats you as innocence while cuffing you, rather than being able to bust you up side the head before you can prove it was your twin brother that put his partner in the hospital.

The law was written that way. Semantics are what they are...

jourist know best, so leave it like this

It probably should be stated "innocent unless
and not until found legally guilty".
In everyday speech we like phrases that are
short and easy to say. We say go to school
to "get an education". It should be go to school
to "have a better opportunity to educate myself".
It's good to think about the underlying meanings
of many of our common language sayings.

no smoke without fire

I would rather them state.. not guilty unless proven guilty..The jury decides your fate of either one..

I don't know Cliff I think it might be because that is the law.
Love, honey
