No, that would just be wrong, rude and terribly inconsiderate.
Try this method ... it is much more effective:
Say: "Oh, dear! I think I am going to crash into the ocean! Aaahhh....!"
Then pour a bottle of water ... or soda ...or whiskey ... all over your cell phone (any liquid will work).
Next, throw your phone out the window, and make sure it hits a very, very hard object ... like a concrete wall, or a passing car .... or a homeless person ... the harder the better. It is just more realistic that way.
Hopefully Mom will get the hint.
