It works both ways. Girls do the same thing. If that person isn't giving you a straight answer then you shouldn't bother talking to that person. Honesty is very important. My best guess though is that you're probably not giving straight questions (much like this one you posted on yahoo answers) so therefore a straight answer will be impossible!

Immature PEOPLE play head games --- guys AND girls...you just happen to be involved in one (obviously) and so what you need to do is put your hand up and say "sorry, I don't play games." This is NOT a gender thing at all. This is about YOU taking control over the situation........not all guys play head games.

he' snot playing head games with you. he's just feeling a little itimitated. give him five minutes so that he can actually figure out the answer for himself (we're slow like that)

Yes, they do avoid straight answers for many reasons. it does work both ways. The idea of "playing hard to get," was popular for women for many years. Men play head games with women for the same reason. They want to manipulate them and get what they want, and they know that if they came right out and asked for what they want, the answer would be no. I think the new trend toward honest communication is good. As the stereotypes for the sexes fall away, honest communication can be accepted, and head games will be considered rude.

I have to agree with the fact it is not a gender issue.It's an individual shortcoming with many people sadly.
