    I had this same exact problem when I was trying to teach my pet cat, Mr. Fluffy Buttons, to jump through a burning ring of flames, right before our big try-out for the Next Great American Idol Cat competition .....
    Just sprinkle some catnip on the floor and bribe him with some Slim Jims and beer if he succeeds ...
    It worked great with Mr. Fluffy Buttons ...
    light a match and hold it by franks bum, that will make him jump for sure! haha no plse dont! lol
    Bait him with a fishie and make him jump over it! >;]
