Answers: 5 second rule....Food falls on floor and if it isn't there over 5 seconds it is safe to eat....

Peace.

Yes. A lady in my office said she saw in the newspaper that a university did a research study and if it's a chip or candy that is not sticky then it's o.k. ,but if it is like cheese or something sticky then NO. I think it originated in a house full of kids and not much food.

as long as it diesn't fall in the bath room.
I think it originated with a desparate father handing the last oreo to a screaming kid.

I say 3 seconds, ONLY on my home floor though. And only if it isn't by my computer in my room, its dirty from shoes there

well, i never heard of it, but i guess, it's true. in a funny way. or maybe bad. i would ask mom, tough, before i even touch it!

No, I do not follow that rule. I have cats so anything on the floor would probably have cat hairs or dander on it. Yucky.

no, I don't.

No five second rule for me...it falls on the floor it is tossed out unless it is food (like a corn on the cob) that I can rinse off.

No thats disguisting! Know how many germs are on the ground and everywhere else?!!

actually i saw some Girl Scouts on GMA awhile back and they dispelled that myth!!!!

What 5 second rule?

In our house it's up for grabs.

PS Dog usually wins :(

Sure I follow it, as long as it didn't land in something nasty. I have absolutley no idea where it originated from.

No I don't. I guess it originated with someone who was hungry who dropped their last food on the floor and picked it up and ate it.

Yes unfortunaly i do. I know it is a little nasty but hey a girl got to eat!

XOXO: Caroline

yup!

I use it as an excuse around people so I can eat the food I dropped on the ground.

It orginated in a monastary in the Himilasian mountains. All the monks were in a period of fast for 40 years. At the end of the fast, they all gathered together to partake in a bountiful feast of just one elephant. Elephant meat was considered the finest of all delcacies back in the day. Anywho, the head chef monk was walking out carrying the food on a plate when he dropped it. The monks all dropped their peacful state and started to charge the chef with their various tools of eateries.
Trying to save his life the chef yelled "FIVE SECOND RULE!!" He then explained what it was and thats how we got it.

no if it falls on the floor, it goes into the trash.
i do not know where it originated.

In this house it won't last five seconds before the dogs swarm in and I have to fight for it! Not sure where that rule started but clearly someone with a family must have thought it up :)

Yes I follow the 5 second rule.

I have no idea where the rule came from and don't care!

Never heard that one before, but it is hilarious!

Hell no; if it is on the floor it is mine do not attempt to grab it...

This may not be the 5 second rule but it came from the same family. You kiss the food to heaven and say," God made dirt and dirt don't hurt so put it in your mouth and make it work"

I have no idea where they came from.

no and no i don't

Fun for when you're a boy, when ya don't really care, especially if it's something tasty like an M&M or piece of porcorn!
That's where it started for me, trying to catch popcorn in my mouth...got quit good at it.
